Wiarton Waterfront Resort Property & Facilities

History of the “Waterview On The Bay” and what it is today.

This resort was once a modest motel with 10 rooms, a pool and a garage 100ft x 30ft, and for years was a marginal business operation, operated during the summer months only. 

When the current owners purchased the Waterview in Oct. 1999, they had a vision of what the Waterview could be, over the next several years, they spent considerable amount of time, money and energy to turn the business into a resort destination that it is today.

Today everything about the Waterview has changed.  First the older rooms were upgraded, and landscaping was done.  Next, the current owners added a top floor to the original building and that floor, 10 new luxury units were created.

Today, the rooms have attractive interior furniture, good quality fixtures and above average decorating, spa tubs, and fireplaces.  Decks were also added across the back of the motel so that each room has a walk out to a sitting area, all with a waterview.  Larger sun decks were added at the north end of the Resort to create a communal “Sunset Deck” also overlooking the bay and seats 20 people, complete with bar fridge, BBQ and Gazebo.  The “microwave” deck is pool-side providing seating for 40, decks and Gazebo are also by the bay.

The beach is now a groomed sand beach, with paddle boats, kayaks and a beach volleyball area..  The resort offers a nightly bon fire for all guests to enjoy. 
The owner’s quarters were converted to create additional luxury units, and an operational office exits today.

The old garage was converted and equipped to turn it into a successful banquet hall, complete with wet bar, full kitchen facilities, washrooms,  tables, chairs, linens, china crystal etc.  The Hall is now home to many functions with the largest attraction being weddings.  It also attracts other functions like reunions, conference and seminars, and group tourism bookings.  The Waterview caters its own events and has enjoyed tremendous success!

Waterfront improvements included enhancing the beach area, a frame gazebo, other metal sun shades, numerous seating areas to enjoy beach activities, and sunsets.  Wedding garden area and arch for the beach wedding ceremonies.

Today the Waterview is a resort and no longer a budget motel property.  Current owners have made significant improvements to all the assets on site and is now a successful 21 room  resort with Banquet Hall facilities on 3.82acres on Colpoy”s Bay.

Wiarton referred to as the “Gateway to the Bruce” has in influx of summer visitors to the popular cottage country areas.  The harbor is popular with tourists attracted to the sailing and fishing on Georgian Bay.  Wiarton Airport has flight service 24 hours a day with a 5,000 ft paved runway, charter and commercial flight operation, and a Customs port of entry.  The airport is particularly important to the local economy 

The Waterview On The Bay is located on the east side of Colpoy’s Bay just north of Wiarton on a waterfront lot boasting 3.82 acres in total.  With a magnificent view of the bay, as well as, the cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment.  Wiarton, 1.5km to the south, the Wiarton Airport to the east and many tourist attractions are in easy travel distance.  The “Waterview On The Bay” is a destination.
